– Itronix Corporation, the world leader in the design and manufacture of
rugged, wireless mobile computing solutions, today announced it has
strengthened its product and business offerings through the acquisition of
WPI’s Husky Technology – a U.K.-based manufacturer of similar mobile
devices. Capitalizing on each other's strengths, Itronix and Husky will
integrate their product development and sales processes, creating an
extensive distribution network that will deliver a wider array of
solutions to global markets.
Itronix will gain immediate access to Husky’s international
distribution network with more than 100 resellers and VAR's in Europe,
Africa and Asia. In tandem, Itronix will offer Husky products to its
top-level U.S-based channel distributors. The expanded distribution will
provide more customers with an expanded line of rugged, wireless computing
options.
"Our new organization will be quicker to market, more efficient and have a broader
reach," said Dave Dayton, president and CEO of Itronix. "Ultimately, both our
current and future customers will be able to take advantage of a greater selection of
mobile computing products and services at extremely competitive prices."
Dayton added that by combining the two companies’ product lines,
Itronix will extend its vertical outreach into markets such as utilities,
government, aerospace, public safety, geophysical surveying, meter reading
and healthcare.
"We are confident that this union will result in a continuation of
the first-class customer service and technical support we’ve come to
expect from Husky," said Robert Howells, Director of Handheld and
Mobile Systems with Itron. "We look forward to the synergy of Itronix’
and Husky’s leading technologies, strategic partnerships, and the
productivity gains that result when deploying products of this
caliber."
Specializing in the design and manufacture of ultra-rugged mobile computing products
with integrated high performance wireless communications, Itronix will leverage Husky's
extensive experience in the rugged handheld computing arena to grow it's market share in
selected vertical markets.
"The joining of Husky and Itronix will prove to be a win-win combination for all
our customers and partners", said Marco Landi of Husky Technology. "Building
upon the strength's of each organization, we will expand our capabilities to deliver the
largest selection of rugged computing products in the industry at highly competitive
prices."
