Fex21 Top Questions

My Fex21 won't turn on, even when connected to a AC wall charger.

If the unit has been in storage, you may need to do a hard reset:

  • Caution: Performing a hard reset will destroy all data and programs stored in memory. If possible, save these items to an external storage device before proceeding. A hard reset does not affect operating system files, however the registry will be reset to the factory default.
  • Connect the Fex21 to an AC wall charger and press the power key. If the unit will not turn on, proceed to the next step.
  • Husky Repair, Itronix Repair, Itron RepairHold down both contrast keys, the power key, and the left backlight key for about 10 seconds. The Fex21 will perform a hard reset and switch off.
  • Press the power key to restart the unit.
  •  If the unit still won't turn on, it will need servicing.

After the unit reboots it will need to be left on the charger for at least 24 hours so that the internal backup battery has time to recharge.

Where is the serial number located?

The serial number is located on the back of the unit near the backstrap:

  • Lightly slide the backstrap to the side of the machine.
  • The serial number will begin with the numbers 70000 or 72000.

My Fex21 touch screen will not calibrate.

  • Press the CTL+ALT+= keys to display the calibration screen.
  • Using a stylus, press and hold each target until the target moves to a new location. Ensure that only the tip of the stylus touches the screen during the calibration process. Repeat this process several time if needed. When calibration is successful, the target will vanish and further instructions will appear. Proceed to the next step if this fails.
  • Perform a hard reset. See the section above titled 'My Fex21 won't turn on, even when connected to a AC wall charger'.
  • After the Fex21 reboots, attempt to recalibrate the screen again.
  • If the unit still won't calibrate, the unit will require a new touch panel. Contact service to schedule the repair.
